Franchise Notes: Olympique Lyonnais Launches Esports Team In China

Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais launched its Chinese esports team in Beijing. The team is comprised of four Chinese professional FIFA players. OL is the first foreign football club to launch an esports team in China. OL is already engaged in France-based esports leagues (OL).

ManU is the U.K.'s first football club to partner with LGBT charity Stonewall. The initiative will see the club work with Stonewall, helping to tackle LGBT issues in sport and society, while looking at best practices and ways in which inclusion and equality can be improved in football. As part of the club's pledge to Stonewall, Old Trafford will host the charity's Rainbow Laces Summit this year (ManU). 

Singapore electric mobility firm Vanda Electronics unveiled the all-electric Dendrobium hypercar at the Geneva Motor Show, with Williams Advanced Engineering as technical partner. The Dendrobium was built at Williams’ facility in Grove, utilizing its capabilities in aerodynamics, advanced lightweight structures, electrification, vehicle integration and low volume production. The electric sports car concept targets a top speed in excess of 200mph and 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds (Williams F1). 

League Championship side Cardiff City lost nearly £9.5M in the year ending May 2016, compared to a £3.8M profit in '15, "according to the club's accounts." Gate receipts, broadcasting, sponsorship, advertising and commercial income "went down" from just over £37M to just over £31M. Players' wages and salaries "were reduced" from £30.8M to £25.4M (BBC, 3/7).
