Media Notes: Pay-TV Platform OSN To Show Drone Racing League In MENA

Pay-TV platform OSN is "introducing season one of the Drone Racing League" to subscribers across the Middle East and North Africa. A "nascent" int'l sport, DRL races are "held in iconic locations" including stadiums, subway tunnels, abandoned factories and historic landmarks (RAPID TV NEWS, 3/6).

Copa90 is "now available to stream for free on on-demand OTT service Xumo." The Copa90 channel is now available across all Xumo platforms, including smart TVs. Viewers will have access to Copa90’s full lineup of coverage of the new season of Major League Soccer, which kicked off Friday (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 3/6).

Germany's Sport1 GmbH acquired the media rights to The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland. Sport1 acquired the comprehensive platform-neutral media rights to The World Games 2017 from Lagardère Sports Germany. The World Games, which will take place July 20-30, features athletes competing in over 30 sports that are not contested at the Olympic Games (Sport1). 

The European Handball Federation announced viewing figures for the Men's EHF Euro 2016, played in January in Poland, and the Women's EHF Euro 2016, played in Sweden from Dec. 4-18. A cumulative audience of more than 2.2 billion people followed more than 4,930 hours of programming at both events. This represented the highest numbers reached at any EHF Euro events since the competition format was introduced in '94. The Women's EHF Euro 2016 was distributed across 135 countries by 65 broadcasters, reaching a total audience of 643 million on TV, the second-highest total for the competition (Infront).
