De Carvalho received 86.13% of the vote, while his only opponent, PEDRO MADEIRA RODRIGUES, received 9.4% (MARCA, 3/5). ... League Championship side Nottingham Forest appointed FRANK MCPARLAND as director of football, "fuelling speculation" that MARK WARBURTON "could arrive as manager in the summer." Warburton, his assistant DAVID WEIR and McParland worked together at Brentford and Scottish Premiership side Rangers "before their stay at Ibrox came to an acrimonious end last month" (PA, 3/3). ... The World Games 2021 Birmingham Foundation named D.J. MACKOVETS the CEO for the World Games 2021. Mackovets, managing director of Atlanta-based Thomas James Company, "brings nearly 40 years of project management experience" (ALABAMA NEWSCENTER, 3/2).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen sacked Manager ROGER SCHMIDT following Saturday's 6-2 defeat by Borussia Dortmund. Four losses in the past six Bundesliga games have taken the club down to ninth place. Schmidt is "seen as a possible Arsenal boss" when ARSÈNE WENGER leaves (BBC, 3/5). ... Zimbabwe national men's football team Manager SHARIFF MUSSA resigned from his post, "citing pressing business and family commitments." The long-serving Warriors team manager wrote to Zimbabwe FA President PHILIP CHIYANGWA on Feb. 27 "announcing his decision to retire from the game" (NEW ZIMBABWE, 3/2). ... The Football Federation of Cambodia announced the appointment of LEONARDO LUIS of Brazil "as the head coach of the national team on a one-year contract." The 44-year-old left Laos club Lanexang United "to take up the post" (PHNOMPENH POST, 3/3). ... League One side Coventry City relieved Manager RUSSELL SLADE of his duties. The 56-year-old only won three of his 16 games in charge of the Sky Blues following his appointment on Dec. 21 (BBC, 3/5).
