Current Barcelona Shirt Sponsor Qatar Airways To Become Club's Official Airline

Qatar Airways "will remain linked to Barcelona," according to Moisés Llorens of AS. It will become the team's official airline "in exchange" for €50M ($52.5M) over four years, Mundo Deportivo's Miguel Rico reported. Lawyers for Barcelona and Qatar Airways "are editing the contract and when everything is finalized, the deal will be made official." It was reported in December that Qatar Airways, currently the team's shirt sponsor, and Barcelona "were interested in remaining partners." Starting next season, Barcelona's principal shirt sponsor will be Japanese retailer Rakuten (AS, 3/2).
