Belgian Second Division Side Cercle Brugge Accepts Purchase Offer From Monaco

Belgian second division side Cercle Brugge announced that it accepted the purchase offer from Ligue 1 side Monaco, according to LA MEUSE. Cercle’s board accepted the offer that was “formally submitted two weeks ago” by Monaco. The purchase “still needs the green light” from competition authorities in Belgium. In a statement, the Belgian club said, “We would like to point out that the agreement reached guarantees the future of Cercle Brugge as a professional club. Cercle and Monaco have a common ambition to make Cercle a stable [Belgian top division] D1A club as soon as possible.” No financials of the purchase agreement have been revealed (LA MEUSE, 3/1).
