Australian Football League side Port Adelaide President David Koch "told Gold Coast Suns if they wear red-and-gold jumpers in their match in Shanghai it will be the last time they are invited to China." The Suns "have refused to back down from wearing their home jumper of red-and-gold," which are also China’s national colors, when the teams square off on May 14. Koch: "The AFL is going to have to rule on it because it’s distracting from the absolute historic event that this China game is all about" (AAP, 2/28).
Colombian Tatiana Calderon joined the Sauber Formula 1 team "in the role of development driver, hoping eventually to break the male domination" of the F1 starting grid. She said in a statement, "I look forward to working with the team and learning as much as I can. It is a step closer to my dream -- one day competing in Formula One." The 23-year-old will race in the GP3 support series this season while also embarking on a Sauber program that includes simulator training and working with engineers (REUTERS, 2/28).
Cycling team Lotto Soudal will “change its name and jersey” for the 2017 Paris-Nice, which starts on Sunday. Lotto Soudal will be called Lotto Fix ALL for the event. Fix ALL is a product of official sponsor Soudal. The team’s regular red jerseys will be replaced by blue and white ones (L’ÉQUIPE, 2/28).
