ManU's Wayne Rooney Remains Uninterested In Chinese Offers, Sources Say

Sources said that Wayne Rooney "has offers to go to China but is unlikely to leave" ManU before the Chinese transfer window closes on Tuesday, according to SKY SPORTS. Rooney's advisers have been approached by several Chinese Super League clubs that "are willing to make him the world's best-paid player," offering £750,000 ($934,100) a week. The clubs include Guangzhou Evergrande, which is managed by Felipe Scolari, and Beijing Guoan, which "finished fifth in the CSL last season." Rooney has 18 months left on his ManU contract, although the club has "the option of extending it by another year." CSL clubs are "allowed to have only three foreign players in their starting line-ups." Three clubs "still have a slot available for a foreign player" -- Tianjin Quanjian, Jiangsu Suning and Beijing Guoan (SKY SPORTS, 2/22). In London, Miguel Delaney wrote whatever happens, it is "now seen as increasingly likely" that Rooney will leave ManU at the end of the season. Manager Jose Mourinho is "far from pushing the player out and is generally seen by those at the club to have handled a difficult situation well," but the captain has been "made aware that he is not really part of the manager's main plans and will be little more than a sub in the current regime" (INDEPENDENT, 2/22).
