Ligue 1 Side Monaco Bids For Majority Stake In Second Division Belgian Club

Ligue 1 side Monaco made a bid to purchase a majority share of Belgian second division side Cercle Brugge. The Brugge board will study the proposition before making a decision at the end of February. The project is part of Monaco’s plan to develop young talent. The club also hopes to benefit from the “Belgian School” of football while respecting the traditions of Cercle Brugge (Monaco). REUTERS’ Robert-Jan Bartunek reported Ligue 1 leader Monaco has already loaned out young players to Cercle and said that “the aim was to build on this exchange” (REUTERS, 2/16).
