Marketplace Roundup: Norwegian Skier Therese Johaug's Ban Proves Costly

Norwegian cross-country skier Therese Johaug received a 13-month ban by Norwegian anti-doping agency ADNO last week. The "most notable financial loss" for Johaug is her sponsorship deal with ski equipment company Fischer, which is "reportedly worth millions of Norwegian krona." Fischer: "All our contracts contain an anti-doping clause. With regards to Therese Johaug, the clause is activated after the ruling on her ban" (BUSINESS INSIDER, 2/13).

Qatar Satellite Company (Es’hailSat) announced its sponsorship of the Qatar Total Open 2017, hosted by the Qatar Tennis Federation. The event will be broadcast live in HD throughout the Middle East and North Africa via Es’hail-1 (GULF TIMES, 2/14).
