Real Madrid Reportedly In Talks With Under Armour For $159M-A-Year Kit Deal

Real Madrid has "opened negotiations" with Under Armour as the American brand "looks to break into the European market," according to Daniel López Peinado of MARCA. The club has been linked with an extension of its kit deal with adidas as the German brand is "keen to see the club sign on" until at least '20. Real Madrid has reportedly told Under Armour that it "could part ways" with adidas, which has sponsored the team since '98, for a deal worth at least €150M ($158.5M). Such a deal would make Real Madrid "the highest paid club in the world" (MARCA, 2/14).

ESPANYOL EYEING STADIUM SPONSOR: SPORT reported La Liga side Espanyol CEO Ramon Robert said, "We are in conversations for the naming rights of our stadium." Robert explained that clubs "that are not playing" in European competitions "have to earn around" €3M-€4M ($3.2M-$4.2M). He "made it very clear that the club is only in discussions and that at the moment, no deal has been reached." Robert said that the club "is also looking for land for a future training facility" (SPORT, 2/13).
