Sat.1 Draws Half-A-Million Fewer Viewers For Super Bowl Coverage Than In '16

German free-to-air TV channel Sat.1's Super Bowl LI coverage drew "fewer viewers than in '16," according to Nils Lehnebach of SPONSORs. The first half of the game between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons drew about 500,000 fewer viewers than last year. The game's first quarter attracted 1.58 million viewers starting at 12:30am local time. During the second quarter the viewership dropped to 1.4 million viewers. In the target demographic 14-49, Sat.1 drew market shares of 27.8% and 39.5%, respectively. During last year's Super Bowl between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers, the first and second quarters saw viewership figures of 1.93 million and 2.05 million, respectively. Viewership figures for the halftime show as well as the game's second half will not be available until Tuesday (SPONSORs, 2/6).
