Media Notes: IPC Appoints Sunset+Vine As Broadcaster For London 2017 Championships

The IPC appointed broadcast production company Sunset+Vine as host broadcaster for the London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships, which take place from July 14-23 in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The London-based company, which has also been appointed to produce the IAAF World Championships London 2017 in August, has committed to provide full live coverage as well as daily highlights and news packages from the event. A ready-to-broadcast event summary will follow after the Championships (IPC).

National League side Sutton United's FA Cup fifth round clash with Arsenal will be shown live on BBC1. The "fairytale draw which pitches the non-league minnows against the glamour boys of the Premier League" will be the Monday night game shown by the BBC. Fellow non-league side Lincoln will get its "chance to shine in front of the cameras" after BT Sport opted to screen its trip to Burnley (THE SUN, 2/1).

English Premier League broadcast rights holder beIN has been "accused of overcharging customers." It was "unclear how widespread" the issue was, but some people have complained they were "apparently charged in euros rather than New Zealand dollars," adding more than 50% to their bills. The complaints are related to beIN's online streaming service, Connect, which last week "attracted criticism" from Sky and its customers (STUFF, 1/31).

The "wholly owned" SES subsidiary MX1 has begun to provide the Israel Premier Football League with its end-to-end MX1 360 service for live editing of sports content. IPFL Head of Digital Gil Halevi said, "MX1 360 gives us full control over sports content, in real time, allowing us to manage our broadcast partners and their access to the different content we produce quickly and effortlessly" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 2/1).

Eleven Sports
