Alpine Skier Neureuther Is Germany's Most Popular Winter Sports Athlete, Survey Says

German Alpine skier Felix Neureuther "is the country's most popular active winter sports athlete," according to Holger Rehm of SPONSORs. Karlsruhe-based media and market research agency Intelligent Research in Sponsoring asked 3,244 people -- 1,069 of whom were winter sports fans -- to identify Germany's most popular active winter sports athlete. A quarter of the people answered with Neureuther. In the key demographic of winter sports fans, the figure increased to 38%. The slalom and giant slalom specialist is followed by ski jumper Severin Freund, who was known to 10% of the population. In the key demo, his recognition increased to 22%. The survey was conducted ahead of the start of the winter sports season in November (SPONSORs, 2/1).
