The city of Paris signed an agreement to support refugees through sport with Taekwondo federations as Paris 2024 declared the city ready for "sharing." The agreement will offer support to int'l refugees in the city. The city's initiative is in line with Paris 2024's vision of sharing as a way to address key contemporary challenges through sport and the Games. The city will work with the federations to empower refugees and displaced persons by helping them stay fit and active through participation in Taekwondo (Paris 2024).
On Sunday, the IPC Governing Board unanimously turned down a request from the Russian Paralympic Committee for it to enter athletes into upcoming qualification events for the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games while it remains suspended. The suspension of the RPC, which dates back to Aug. 7, remains in place because the RPC has not yet met the reinstatement criteria that was published in November. The IPC's decision does not necessarily close the door on possible Russian participation at next year's Games. Should the RPC continue to cooperate fully with the IPC task force and meet the reinstatement criteria in full before PyeongChang 2018, then the IPC Governing Board will lift its suspension (IPC).
