Media Notes: Accor Hotels Secures Content Deal With Fox Networks Group Asia

Accor Hotels secured a "branded content partnership deal with broadcaster Fox Networks Group Asia." The one-year collaboration "will see exclusive branded content" across the network’s sports and general entertainment channels, including "tie-ups with major sporting events" such as Grand Slam Tennis, Formula 1 and MotoGP. It will cover territories such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, Myanmar, Macau, Mongolia, India, China, Australia and New Zealand. The partnership, which was activated during the recent Australian Open, "gave viewers on the network an exclusive peek on how Accor Hotels had prepared to host tennis stars competing in the year’s first Grand Slam" (ASIA SPONSORSHIP NEWS, 1/31).

A new pay-as-you-watch DTH platform named Kwesé TV "has made its debut in Africa." Allowing viewers to purchase three- or seven-day passes to access its full programming "bouquet," the service is "initially being made available to households in Ghana, Rwanda and Zambia, with other countries set to follow." Kwesé TV’s lineup "includes the premium sports channels Kwesé Free Sports, Kwesé Sports 1 (KS1) and Kwesé Sports 2 (KS2), along with a mix of entertainment programming, some of which is exclusive, first-to-market as well as original" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 1/30).

Polish public broadcaster TVP "signed a sub-licensing agreement with Discovery Communications" for the 2018 Winter Olympics and 2020 Summer Olympics. As a result, it will be "able to offer coverage of the two competitions on its TV channels, online platforms and social media." The rights "cover digital linear transmissions, limited retransmissions and highlights of the most important events."
