ITV To Broadcast England Qualifiers For Euro 2020, 2022 World Cup

Live coverage of England's qualifiers for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup will be aired on free-to-air TV as "ITV has retained exclusive rights," according to the PA. The broadcaster, which currently has a deal that runs until the end of next summer's World Cup, announced on Thursday "it will screen all of England's qualifiers and any warm-up games before the two competitions." Sky Sports revealed it kept the rights for all int'l matches involving Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales and added "exclusive live coverage of England's friendly matches" during the four-year period. Under the current deal, all of England's matches are screened on ITV but from '18 the team's friendly matches -- which will be a part of a new UEFA Nations League -- will only be available on Sky Sports (PA, 1/26). SKY SPORTS reported the agreement offers "up to 900 live matches" between '18 and '22. Under the new deal, Sky Sports will broadcast:

  • UEFA Nations League "for first time, with England exclusively live."
  • Home Nations qualifiers for Euro 2020 and World Cup 2022 live, plus England highlights.
  • Up to 900 live int'l games (SKY SPORTS, 1/26).
