Event Notes: England Tries Will Be Followed By Music At Twickenham During Six Nations

The "controversial policy" of playing music at "key moments" during England's matches at Twickenham Stadium is to continue during this year's Six Nations -- "but will be scaled down following a comprehensive review." The musical accompaniment is to be limited to tries scored by England, known as "try stings," with penalties and conversions now set to be excluded under the Rugby Football Union's new sport presentation music policy. The playing of any music during matches has attracted "strong criticism from traditionalists," but the RFU claims its decision has been founded on "positive market research" during last autumn's test series (London TELEGRAPH, 1/25).

This year's Italian Open has been "moved from Rome's Olgiata club to Royal Park I Roveri near Turin." The Italian Golf Federation made the announcement regarding the October tournament which will feature a prize fund of €7M ($7.5M). This season's event forms part of the European Tour's "newly unveiled" Rolex Series and the tournament's contract with the Tour means it will offer a €7M purse for the next 10 years (SKY SPORTS, 1/25).

Rex Tso Sing-yu has been "a knockout in the ring." Now he's proving to be a "knockout at the box office," with more than 70% of 8,000 tickets for "Clash of Champions II" sold within 24 hours of going on sale. Wednesday's count revealed more than 5,500 tickets were "snapped up by the public." Only the "cheaper end" of tickets, HK$380 ($48.98) and HK$580 ($74.76), is now available (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 1/25).
