Tottenham Shares New Images, Further Details Of $938M Stadium

Tottenham Hotspur released "stunning" new imagery and further details of its 61,000-seat, £750M ($938M) stadium which will include a glass-walled "Tunnel Club" allowing supporters a behind-the-scenes view of the players tunnel and also seats behind the managers' technical area -- at a price of £339 ($424) per ticket per match, according to Jason Burt of the London TELEGRAPH. The new imagery "is to show the progress of the stadium," set to open next year, with Tottenham "accepting interest" in its premium packages which also "include heated seats and even USB ports at each seat." Premium seats start at £89 ($111.30) per person per match and go up to £214 ($267.60). The price of general admission season tickets to the ground, which will include a 17,000-seat single tier stand, the largest in the U.K., is still to be announced. The stadium, which will have ticketless entry, has been designed by architect Populous, which has also consulted with acoustics experts who work on U2 concerts to help maximize noise levels. There will be music concerts held at the stadium, also, "with a retractable grass pitch for Spurs home fixtures and an artificial surface underneath" capable of hosting NFL games (TELEGRAPH, 1/20). ESPN.com's Dan Kilpatrick reported the club said that "no front row seat" will be more than 8m away from the touchline across the ground. Alcohol is also featured in the club's plans to "create an electric atmosphere, and the ground will have the world's first stadium micro-brewery, pumping out a million pints of craft beer per year" and 10,000 pints a minute on matchdays. The stadium will house "the longest bar" in a U.K. stadium at 86.8m. Tottenham also predicted the new stadium will "transform the local area, creating around 3,500 new jobs" and pumping about £300M ($375.2M) per year into the local economy (ESPN.com, 1/20).
