Marketplace Roundup: WTA Signs Three-Year Deal With Cambridge Global Payments

The Women's Tennis Association and Cambridge Global Payments entered a three-year partnership in which Cambridge will serve as the official and exclusive int'l payments provider of the WTA, responsible for fulfillment of prize money and corporate foreign exchange services for the WTA and its members (WTA). 

British fashion and lifestyle brand Jack Wills launched its "first ever sportswear collection for women." The Jack Wills Sporting Goods range "includes athletic clothing and accessories, made from high performance, form-fitting, technical fabrics" (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 1/12).

Sumo and sports cars are an "unlikely pairing but British car maker McLaren, a challenger brand in Japan, has broken new ground with its sponsorship of Masakatsu Ishiura, the sport’s lightest wrestler." The deal, which was struck late last week, will see 26-year-old Ishiura, who weighs a "mere" 115kg and is an avid cyclist, "endorsing McLaren’s latest model in Japan." Ishiura also has a "strong social presence, and regularly posts videos of his fellow wrestlers having a lark outside the dohyo (ring)" (ASIA SPONSORSHIP NEWS, 1/12). 

Nike has "hit up artist FKA twigs to act as creative director for its latest women's wear campaign titled 'Do you believe in more?'" FKA twigs conceptualized, directed, performed and created the soundtrack for the campaign, "which positions sport as an important part of self expression." The campaign film was "shot in Mexico with a cast of 12 athletes, hand-picked" by FKA twigs, to show how Nike's fitness gear "helps them to train and move" (THE DRUM, 1/12).
