Finance Notes: Court Orders Owner To Pay ADO Den Haag €2.5M

The Chinese owner of Dutch football side ADO Den Haag "has been ordered to pay the club" nearly €2.5M ($2.6M), which the club says it is owed. The court said that the club "proved it had reached an agreement with Hui Wang’s company United Vansen" in '15, and should have been paid €3.7M. The court said, "United Vansen has failed to meet the terms of the agreement." The club is "currently in special measures and faces further sanctions from the Dutch FA if it does not get its finances in order by February" (DUTCH NEWS, 1/5).

The publisher of Square Mile has acquired Factory Media, "which owns a number of sports and lifestyle brands." Square Up Media struck the deal with Forward Dimension Capital, "which does not include Factory Media’s German assets." Factory Media has 20 brands "including Mpora, Road Cycling UK and Dirt." It has "more than 6.8 million unique users across its sites." Square Up Media claimed that Factory Media is "one of the UK’s strongest media companies within the digital space" (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 1/5).

One Event Management "acquired Lyndy Redding and McLaren Technology Group's event design company Absolute Taste." The move will see One Event Management’s catering brand, Mecco, and Absolute Taste "rebrand to create a luxury event design company." Together, "they will operate as Absolute Taste across a broad spectrum of hospitality services," including F1 hospitality (CONFERENCE NEWS, 1/4).

Outgoing Ghana Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye has confirmed that the national team's budget for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations "has been slashed" from $5.4M to $3.4M. The budget includes the team’s training tour of UAE where it "will camp for 11 days at the Al Ain training centre."  Also factored in "are bonuses and appearance fees for the players who will make the 23-man squad" (Ghana CHRONICLE, 1/5).
