Media Notes: Bradley Wiggins Signs Up For Winter Sports Show 'The Jump'

Cyclist Bradley Wiggins is "to swap two wheels for two skis after signing up to appear on Channel 4's winter sports show The Jump." The news comes six days after the five-time Olympic champion announced his retirement from cycling. The other contestants will include fellow Olympians Louis Smith and Jade Jones, and model Caprice Bourret. The last series was "beset by injuries" to competitors including Tina Hobley, Beth Tweddle and Rebecca Adlington (BBC, 1/3).

Econet Media's 24-hour sports channel Kwesé Free Sports is "now live in Uganda." The first pan-African free-to-air channel shows int'l sports content, most of which is exclusive to the Kwesé TV network. The line-up includes the Copa del Rey, the Premier League, NBA, NFL, Formula 1 and other leagues. KFS is currently available as a free-to-air channel which "can be accessed through any free-FTA set-top box" (TELECOMPAPER, 1/2).

Broadcaster Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) "acquired the TV and digital rights for the Aircel Chennai Open." SPN said that the tennis tournament, which began Monday and runs through Jan. 8, will be telecast on Sony Six and Sony Six HD channels and "can also be streamed live on Sony Liv" (PTI, 12/30).
