CESARE PRANDELLI resigned as manager of La Liga side Valencia after one win in eight league matches in charge, the club confirmed on Friday. Prandelli, who was under contract until June '18 with Valencia’s Chinese owners after joining the club in October to become its ninth coach since '12, "is negotiating the termination of his deal" (REUTERS, 12/30). ... Premiership rugby side Leicester Tigers sacked Dir of Rugby RICHARD COCKERILL, with head coach AARON MAUGER taking "interim charge" at Welford Road. The Tigers have dropped out of the Premiership's playoff berths after consecutive defeats to Exeter and Saracens, "following closely from the record 38-0 European defeat at the hands of Munster." Former England Manager STUART LANCASTER and ex-South Africa Manager HEYNEKE MEYER "will move into the immediate running as a long-term replacement for Cockerill," who had coached at Leicester since '04 (London TELEGRAPH, 1/2). ... Premier League side Swansea City is set to appoint PAUL CLEMENT as its new manager. Current Bayern Munich assistant Clement "has been in talks with Swansea over the last 24 hours to become the club’s third manager of the season." It is understood the deal "could be finalised over the next 48 hours" before Swansea visits Crystal Palace on Tuesday. BOB BRADLEY "saw his 85-day reign come to an end after the 4-1 Boxing Day defeat to West Ham" (London INDEPENDENT, 12/31).
