Euro 2016 Delivers Biggest TV Audiences For French Broadcasters

French TV channel M6 “should thank Euro 2016,” according to L’ÉQUIPE. M6’s broadcast of the Portugal vs. France (1-0) final on July 11 “broke its own audience record” and was the most-viewed TV program in France in ’16. The final drew an average audience of 20.8 million viewers and a peak audience of 23.4 million, translating to a market share of 71.8%. The competition, broadcast live on TF1 and M6 and in full on beIN Sports, “drew record amounts of viewers to their screens for an entire month.” Euro 2016 broadcasts “accounted for nine of the 10 most-viewed TV programs on French TV in ’16” (L’ÉQUIPE, 12/28).
