Swimming Australia, Speedo Will End Partnership At Year's End

One of the "longest-running" sponsorships in Australian sport "will come to an end this month when swimwear manufacturer Speedo and the Australian swimming team part ways," according to Nicole Jeffery of THE AUSTRALIAN. Swimming Australia (SAL) announced that its 60-year partnership with Speedo will end on Dec. 31. Speedo is signed up as an Australian Olympic team sponsor through the 2028 Olympic Games, but "the Australian Dolphins will wear a different brand for the first time at next year's world championships in Budapest." SAL has "already found a replacement swimwear sponsor but the new four-year deal will not be announced until the new year." The Australian swimming team first wore Speedo as its "official competition uniform" at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Speedo continues to support individual Australian athletes, including Rio Gold Medalist Mack Horton and medalists Cameron McEvoy and Emma and David McKeon (THE AUSTRALIAN, 12/20).
