Zimbabwe FA President PHILIP CHIYANGWA has been elected as president of the Council of Southern Africa FAs (COSAFA) "after he stood unopposed" at the organization's annual general meeting at Sun City, South Africa. Chiyangwa takes over from SUKETU PATEL, who "elected not to stand after completing two terms in office." The other contender for the role of COSAFA president, DANNY JORDAAN from the South African FA, "withdrew before the vote" (ALL AFRICA, 12/17). ... ANDRÉ GIRAUD was elected president of the French Athletic Federation (FFA) by the general assembly on Saturday. Giraud has been FFA VP since ’01, and beat out MARCEL FERRARI with 67.8% of the votes (FFA).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Norway appointed MARTIN SJÖGREN as its new coach for the Women's Euro 2017. Sjögren, 39, leaves Swedish champion Linköping to take over from ROGER FINJORD, who stepped down at the end of qualifying (UEFA). ... JUAN MANUEL AZCONZÁBAL announced that he will coach Argentine first division side Huracán. He "will sign a contract next week, succeeding RICARDO CARUSO LOMBARDI" (CLARÍN, 12/17). ... RICARDO ZIELINSKI resigned as coach of Argentine first division side Racing. Zielinski took over in August and coached the team for 14 games, recording six wins, two draws and six losses (CLARÍN, 12/18).
