French Int'l Frédéric Michalak Becomes Majority Shareholder Of Blagnac Rugby

French rugby int’l and Top14 side Lyon OU player Frédéric Michalak has “become a majority shareholder” of third-tier French rugby side Blagnac Rugby, according to Vincent Pialat of LE PARISIEN. Michalak said, “I saw what Tony Parker did in basketball with (French Pro A side) Asvel and I found that nice. It’s good to give back to our sport all that it has given us.” Michalak, who invested several tens of thousands of euros from his personal accounts, “could even lace up his boots” for the club at the end of his contract at Lyon, in a year-and-a-half. But initially, his mission will be to “restructure the club and to stabilize its place” in the league by “playing off his brand image to attract new partners.” Michalak will be helped by former Stade Toulousain player Christophe Deylaud, “who will become Blagnac’s sporting director after having been manager” (LE PARISIEN, 12/14).
