Australian WorldTour team Orica-BikeExchange will be known as Orica-Scott from the start of the '17 season, "as bike manufacturer Scott Sports steps up to become co-title-sponsor," according to Nigel Wynn of CYCLING WEEKLY. Scott bikes "have been associated with the squad" since its debut as GreenEdge Cycling in '12, but now the manufacturer has "upped its commitment." Both the men's and women's teams will now race under the same name -- the women's squad was previously known as Orica-AIS. Multi-national mining company Orica continues as co-title-sponsor. To reflect the new sponsor, the team’s kit has been redesigned for '17. The clothing now features "a dark blue background with bright green highlights, with no white sections as have previously been included -- not all that dissimilar to Movistar’s kit" (CYCLING WEEKLY, 12/12).
NEW THREADS: CYCLING NEWS reported "the team will be kitted out by Giordana" from '17 onward. The Australian team is switching to the Italian brand after three years with Swedish manufacturer Craft. Giordana has been "involved in cycling" since the '80s, formerly supplying the Tour de France, and will be represented by two WorldTour teams next year after also "landing a contract" with Astana (CYCLING NEWS, 12/9).
