The Western Australia head coach will deputize for DARREN LEHMANN, who will be working with the Test squad (BBC, 12/8). ... Spanish football player DAVID VILLA "will be appointed an honorary ambassador for the first Winter Olympics in South Korea." Rep. YEOM DONG-YEOL, who serves on the parliamentary committee on sports, said in a press release on Monday that "the organizing committee for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games will make the 35-year-old striker its latest goodwill spokesman." Villa is currently with MLS side NYCFC (YONHAP, 12/11). ... Chinese swimmer CHEN XINYI "has been banned for two years after failing a drug test at the Rio Olympics," the sport's governing body (FINA) said. Chen finished fourth in the women's 100m butterfly at Rio but did not start in the 50m freestyle heats after Chinese state media reported she had tested positive for the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide (REUTERS, 12/9).
