Former darts world champion ERIC BRISTOW lost his role with Sky Sports after suggesting football abuse victims are not "proper men." Bristow asked on Twitter why victims did not "sort out" their abusers "when they got older and fitter." More than 20 ex-footballers "have made allegations of child sex abuse." A Sky spokesperson said, "He was a contributor to our darts coverage in the past but we will not be using him in the future" (BBC, 11/29). ... Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian Manager ROBBIE NEILSON is traveling to speak to League One side MK Dons on Tuesday afternoon about its vacant managerial position. Neilson, 36, led Hearts' training on Tuesday morning but was scheduled to meet with officials from MK Dons later (BBC, 11/29). ... ANNE KEOTHAVONG has been "appointed as Great Britain's Fed Cup captain and senior national women's coach by the Lawn Tennis Association" (BBC, 11/29). ... Former football coach BARRY BENNELL has been "charged with eight offences of sexual assault against a boy aged under 14, prosecutors have said." The Crown Prosecution Service said that it had "received a file of evidence from Cheshire Police relating to allegations of historical abuse" (BBC, 11/29). ... Norway's anti-doping agency called for a 14-month ban on Tuesday for cross-country skier THERESE JOHAUG "after she tested positive for a steroid she said she took unknowingly." The agency's prosecution committee filed charges to the Norwegian sports federation's disciplinary committee, "which will make a ruling" (AP, 11/29). ... DYLAN ALCOTT carved his name in sports history "as the first wheelchair athlete to win the Newcombe Medal, the highest individual award in Australian tennis." The world No. 1 and three-time Olympic Gold Medalist joined majors champions LLEYTON HEWITT and SAMANTHA STOSUR, "among others, on the honour roll after receiving his award from JOHN NEWCOMBE in Melbourne on Monday night." Alcott had a "dominant" '16 season in which he "successfully defended his Australian Open title, won singles and doubles Gold at the Rio Paralympics and was crowned Australia's Paralympian of the Year" (ABC, 11/28). ... Three-time Olympian and reigning national road champion JACK BOBRIDGE has "succumbed to the effects of rheumatoid arthritis and retired from cycling." Bobridge said that racing and training at the highest level had "taken a heavy toll on his body and it was no longer fun." He retires with two Silver Medals from three Olympics, four Commonwealth Games gold medals, four world championships, and "still holds the 4km individual pursuit world record that many thought was unbreakable" (THE ADVERTISER, 11/29).
