For the second time in its "short history," National Rugby League side Gold Coast Titans "unveiled a state-of-the-art training and administration facility" -- this one worth A$25M ($18.7M), according to Dan Koch of THE AUSTRALIAN. The shadow cast by "the not-so-distant memories of the club’s ill-fated Centre of Excellence development at Robina was inescapable." From "almost the moment" former Gold Coast CEO Michael Searle opened the doors of the club’s "spectacular" A$30M new home in '09, the Titans’ fortunes "nosedived on and off the field." However, current CEO Graham Annesley and coach Neil Henry said that the move to the new Parkwood Village complex marked the completion of a "relaunching" of the Titans brand. The Titans have entered into an agreement with the Parkwood developers to hold tenancy at the facility "but they will share some of the space" with members of the Parkwood Int'l Golf Club (THE AUSTRALIAN, 11/30). In Gold Coast, Jaydan Duck reported as well as providing a modern office environment for staff, "players will have access to indoor training courts, aqua therapy, a fully-equipped gymnasium, an altitude chamber, and dedicated change-room facilities." The project also includes a "huge" indoor sports center while the 25m three-lane lap pool will offer "learn-to-swim classes with separate hydrotherapy baths." Temporary Fence Hire has been involved with the club as a sponsor since '14 and announced a three-year extension of its chest plate sponsorship of the Titans jersey, and the naming rights to the High Performance Centre, also for three years (MY GC, 11/29).
