The "cash-rich" Board of Control for Cricket in India is "finding it difficult to meet basic payments," according to Sanjjeev K. Samyal of the HINDUSTAN TIMES. The West Indies women’s team, which was in India to play a limited-overs series this month, had to go through the tour without receiving its daily allowance from the host board, "while the India team was also denied DA due to the withdrawal limit in banks." The West Indies players were entitled to $50 per day, while the Indian players are paid 6,500 rupees ($94.80) per day. The West Indies tour "coincided with the government’s decision to abolish high denomination bank notes, which disrupted cash transactions in the country." The move has "also affected the Ranji teams." With matches being played at neutral venues, "all the teams are travelling across the country." However, they are "restricted to room service once they reach their destinations." With an ATM withdrawal limit of 2,500 rupees ($36.46) per day and 100 rupees ($1.46) denomination notes hard to find, there is "limited cash to spend" (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 11/28).
