Fifth Kenyan Olympic Official Arrested As Part Of Investigation Into Missing Money

A fifth senior Kenyan Olympic official "has been arrested as part of the investigation into missing money and equipment following Rio 2016," according to the BBC. Police went to the Nairobi home of Ben Ekumbo, who is VP of the country's Olympic committee and head of its swimming federation. He was reportedly "hiding under a bed." Officers found "boxes of new Nike running shoes and unused Kenyan team uniforms that were meant to be given to athletes competing at the Games" (BBC, 11/22).

CALLING IT QUITS: REUTERS' Humphrey Malalo reported a Kenyan magistrate said that charges against Italian sports agent Federico Rosa over the alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs "have been dropped." Rosa, who had denied the charges made against him in July, "runs Italy-based company Rosa & Associati." Nairobi Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi: "The case is withdrawn" (REUTERS, 11/22).
