Media Notes: NFL Considering Moving Kickoff Times Of London Games

In a "continued effort" to improve TV ratings, the NFL has reportedly "discussed the idea" of moving the 9:30am ET games played in London to a 1pm ET start time. The reasoning would be to "close a viewing window the NFL has created that extends the day and possibly detracts from interest in other games." On days that have games in London, start times are 9:30am, 1pm, 4pm and 8:30pm. Changing the London kickoff time "would take away one of those added windows -- a move to combat what many believe to be an oversaturation of games and start times" (ESPN.com, 11/20).

Motorsport Network announced the acquisition of Motors TV, consolidating the world’s largest automotive and motorsport digital technology business with a global broadcast operation. The acquisition of the broadcaster that reaches more than 30 million homes with 130 rights agreements and 700 live events annually will become the backbone of Motorsport.tv, a performance motoring and motorsport OTT video broadcast network. Motorsport.com Chair Zak Brown said, "The investment will enable us to create the very first dedicated broadcast 'home' in our expert areas of performance motoring and motorsport" (Motorsport).

Action sports and independent music channel Havoc Television has "secured carriage on Eutelsat 16 degrees East." As a result, it is now being broadcast on Telekom Austria’s A1 service in its home market, as well as by the telecom's subsidiaries in Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia and Bulgaria. Havoc Television also signed a carriage agreement with Vodafone Greece (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 11/18).
