England int'l WAYNE ROONEY has "promised his shirt from the win over Scotland to a terminally ill boy at the centre of a social media campaign." KASABIAN NEWTON-SMITH, eight, from Sheffield, was "diagnosed with cancer as a toddler and has two brain tumours" (BBC, 11/13). ... Yorkshire Cricket Club is set to announce that club captain, ANDREW GALE, "has been appointed as successor to JASON GILLESPIE in the role of first-team coach. The 32-year-old Gale, who alongside the former Australia fast bowler "masterminded the club’s back-to-back County Championship titles" in '14 and '15, is understood to have accepted the position after Yorkshire Cricket Dir MARTYN MOXON confirm a decision has been reached (London GUARDIAN, 11/13).
