Franchise Notes: Haas F1 Signs Kevin Magnussen For '17 Season

Haas F1 signed Kevin Magnussen to drive alongside Romain Grosjean beginning with the 2017 Formula One World Championship. Magnussen, 24, comes to Haas F1 with two years of F1 experience -- one with McLaren in '14 and one with Renault in '16. Hass F1 Founder & Chair Gene Haas said, "From the time we began looking at drivers, Kevin Magnussen was always on our short list. He's accomplished a lot in a very short period of time, and we feel like he can accomplish a lot with us" (Haas F1).

Lada has "confirmed it will leave the World Touring Car Championship" at the end of the '16 season. The Russian firm had been "expected to announce its exit after it was reported last week that it had decided to end its five-year stay in the WTCC." Its exit was "formally confirmed by Alexander Bredikhin, marketing director for Lada's parent company AvtoVAZ, on Thursday" (AUTO SPORT, 11/10).
