Norwegian Skier Kristoffersen To Boycott Race Over Red Bull Logo Dispute

Norwegian Alpine skier Henrik Kristoffersen "will boycott the season opening race due to a dispute between the Norwegian Ski Federation and Red Bull," according to Gabriel Wagner of SPONSORs. The 22-year-old will not compete in this weekend's season opener in Levi, Finland, because "he is not allowed to display the Red Bull logo on his helmet." Kristoffersen had agreed to terms with the energy drink company, but the country's ski federation "did not recognize the deal as Red Bull is not an official partner of the federation." Kristoffersen "will now take legal action" because two of his teammates have deals with Red Bull as an individual sponsor. Those deals, however, were signed before the Norwegian Ski Federation "reached its main sponsorship deal with Telenor" (SPONSORs, 11/8).
