Bundesliga Club Borussia Mönchengladbach Starts Construction Of $34M Hotel

Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach "has started the construction of a proposed hotel at its stadium," according to Nils Lehnebach of SPONSORs. The new €31M ($34.1M) building "will include a 131-room hotel, club museum, fan shop, practitioners offices, rehab center and office space." The club will invest €10M ($11M) of its own capital. The remaining €21M ($23.1M) "has been financed through a Postbank loan." Original plans called for the new building being finished by the end of '17. The new opening date "is set for August or September 2018." The planning of the building was done by SOP architekten, and the construction will be performed by Köstner GmbH. The Borussia-Hotel will be operated by H-Hotels-AG. The club is also close to finalizing a deal with the Lindner Group as the operator of the site (SPONSORs, 11/8).
