United World Sports, the organizers of the premier annual rugby events in the U.S., announced it promoted JON HINKIN to tournament director. Hinkin has been involved in the growth of the USA Sevens since its inception. The 2017 USA Sevens will be held at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas from March 3-4, with over 80,000 spectators expected. Hinkin has been with UWS since its inception in '06. He created and built what is now the Las Vegas Invitational, which consists of over 270 teams from 25 countries and is played congruently with the USA Sevens in Las Vegas (UWS). Indonesia Chief Security Minister WIRANTO has been elected as the new chair of the Indonesian Badminton Federation (PBSI) on Monday "after the only other candidate, GITA WIRJAWAN, withdrew his nomination." Based on verification by the electoral committee, Gita received the support of 12 of the federation's provincial bodies, while Wiranto had 18. This "prompted the former trade minister and incumbent PBSI chairman to step down" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 11/1). ... Tennis Australia’s Brisbane academy chief BRENT LARKHAM "has lost his job amid a national restructure of how coaches work at the coalface in improving young players." As well as his academy duties, Larkham coached for almost three years Queensland’s junior player of '16, BLAKE ELLIS, who will be coached by WAYNE ARTHURS when he overcomes a shoulder injury. Larkham said that he had been "offered another position in TA’s Brisbane academy, but had taken a redundancy and already accepted another job" (Brisbane COURIER-MAIL, 10/31). ... Media company Viacom "shored up its management team on Monday" by naming the head of its int'l operations, ROBERT BAKISH, as the company’s acting president and CEO. Bakish becomes Viacom’s third CEO in less than three months. He will replace THOMAS DOOLEY, the long-time COO, who became interim CEO in late August (L.A. TIMES, 10/31). ... A-B InBev promoted Global VP/Marketing Brands & Growth Development Platforms MARCEL MARCONDES to U.S. VP/marketing, effective Jan. 1. He will take over for JORN SOCQUET, who will transition to a global position as VP/marketing strategy for core brands (ADWEEK, 10/31).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Argentine first division sides Aldosivi, Sarmiento and Unión de Santa Fe all parted ways with their managers on Tuesday. FERNANDO QUIROZ of Aldosivi and GABRIEL SCHURRER of Sarmiento were "dimissed for poor on-field results," while LEONARDO MADELÓN "left Unión de Santa Fe for other reasons" (LOS ANDES, 11/1). ... Inter Milan fired Dutchman FRANK DE BOER as coach on Tuesday “after less than three months in charge” during which the club lost seven of its 14 competitive games. Inter dropped to 12th in the Serie A table following Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Sampdoria and said that youth team coach STEFANO VECCHI “would be in charge of the team for Thursday’s Europa League match at Southampton.” The club said that an announcement on De Boer’s replacement “would be made later.” Italian media reported STEFANO PIOLI, the former Lazio coach, “was the favourite” (REUTERS, 11/1).
