Football Notes: ManU Manager Mourinho To Face One-Match Ban If He Accepts Charge

ManU Manager José Mourinho "can expect no more than a one game touchline ban should he accept any charge for being sent to the stands" during ManU’s 0-0 draw with Burnley on Saturday at Old Trafford. Mourinho will find out either on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning "if he is to be charged" once the FA receives the report of the incident. His record "is not relevant" because his last offense falls outside the 12-month window the FA takes into account. If "charged and found guilty Mourinho could be fined and warned as to his future conduct and so escape a touchline ban" (London GUARDIAN, 10/31).

Local footballers in Gabon, the host nation of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, "have threatened to strike in a row over non-payment of salaries." Chief among four main demands "is the back payment" of salaries dating from present day back to '13. Gabonese Footballers' Association (ANFPG) President Remy Ebanega said, "If our concerns are not met, we will tell the players not to start the championship (next month)." The new season is set to start in early November (BBC, 10/28).
