AC Milan GM Adriano Galliani Confirms He Will Leave Club After Sino-Europe Takeover

AC Milan GM Adriano Galliani has confirmed he will leave the San Siro "as soon as the takeover of the club goes through," according to Ben Gladwell of ESPN.com. Galliani, club President Silvio Berlusconi's right-hand man throughout his 31-year presidency, said that "nobody had offered me anything" under new owners the Sino-Europe group. Galliani: "I'm not available to fill any other role. After 30 years I can only continue as general manager, but nobody has offered me anything. I'm not willing to fill any other role than the one I've always done." Former Inter Milan GM Marco Fassone has been named "as the man who will fill the role being vacated by Galliani." Galliani has been tipped to become president of Serie A, "a post he previously held" between '02 and '06, when he leaves Milan. That is "likely to be at the end of this year, which is the deadline for the Chinese investors to complete their takeover" (ESPN.com, 10/31).
