Media Notes: Eleven Sports Network Announces Strategic Partnership With Samsung

Eleven Sports Network announced a strategic partnership with Samsung, making its platform available on Samsung Smart TVs in Singapore. Starting Saturday, fans will be able to watch the Eleven Sports service on TV and its three premium channels, Eleven, Eleven Sports and Eleven Plus, on a Samsung Smart TV App (Eleven Sports).

CZECH DIGI REVAMP: The Czech Republic’s Digi CZ is now providing the sports channel Nova Sport HD 2 on both its DTH platform Nová Digi TV and Internet TV service Digi2Go. It has also made Nova Sport 1 available in HD rather than SD on the DTH platform Nová Digi TV. With the changes, Digi2Go’s lineup now includes 12 sports channels, all but one of which are in HD. Nová Digi TV’s lineup also consists of 12 sports channels (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 10/20).

EUROSPORT LANDS NEW SERIES: A new series of track cycling events, the Six Day Series, is coming to Eurosport for its inaugural '16-17 season. Eurosport will hold exclusive worldwide rights, and will work with the organizers to help grow the series through strategic sub-license agreements with local broadcasters across the globe. The Six Day Series is owned and operated by Madison Sports Group and will feature top riders including Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins. The first event will take place at the Lee Valley VeloPark, home of track cycling during London 2012, on Oct. 25 (Eurosport).

INFRONT RENEWSInfront Sports & Media extended the media rights agreement for FIS World Cup events with SportA, the sports rights agency of ARD/ZDF. The contract covers all audiovisual rights in Germany and will run from the '16-17 season through '20-21. ARD/ZDF will receive the rights for over 200 FIS World Cup events per season across the disciplines of Alpine, Cross-Country, Nordic Combined, Ski Jumping, Snowboard and Freestyle skiing. In addition to TV rights, the agreement includes the corresponding online and mobile rights (Infront).

MEDIA BRIEFS ...
The channels of German pay-TV platform Sky Deutschland will continue to be available to Vodafone Deutschland customers. The carriage deal covers the distribution on Vodafone’s cable and IPTV network. Through its mobile network, viewers can continue to "watch all matches of first and second division football league Bundesliga live on their smartphone or tablet" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 10/20).

Lagardère Sports announced it acquired the worldwide media distribution rights (excluding Germany) to the ATP 250 BMW Open by FWU AG in Munich until '19. The agency also renewed an existing worldwide media rights (excluding Brazil) contract with the ATP 250 Brasil Open in São Paulo until '22 -- having already worked with the tournament for the past five years (Lagardère).

FIFA has opened an invitation to tender in Finland for the media rights to the 2017 Confederations Cup, 2018 World Cup, 2019 Women’s World Cup and 2022 World Cup. The rights will cover TV, IPTV and Internet, mobile and radio transmissions (FIFA).

The U.K. TV advertising market has worsened since September and is heading for a 5% drop in the final quarter of the year. There are suggestions ITV "will be worst hit due to comparisons with the Rugby World Cup in October last year" (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 10/20).
