Franchise Notes: Chef Sacked For Online Post Claiming He Would Poison Fans

A "chef" was sacked while working at a League One game this weekend, after claiming "he was going to try and poison rival fans." While working at Bristol Rovers' game against Gillingham on Saturday, the man, who claims to support Rovers' rivals Bristol City, "posted online saying he was going to deliberately undercook the food served at the Memorial Stadium." He also "posted a picture of his view of the pitch alongside the message on social media." However, the man "was sacked before kickoff after someone at the club noticed his post" (London DAILY MAIL, 10/18).

League Two side Mansfield Town Manager Adam Murray has "banned his players from using phones when they are on duty" at the club. Man City Manager Pep Guardiola has blocked Wi-Fi at the team's training center already this season, but "Murray has gone a step further by confiscating any devices while players are at the club." Murray: "It's a society thing. I don't like the amount of time people spend on their phones around the football club" (London GUARDIAN, 10/18).
