La Liga side Celta Vigo President Carlos Mouriño announced that "I will do what I believe is best for Celta and if this is giving the club economic strength and means a sale, I will sell it," according to MARCA. Mouriño "recognized that the sale has not taken place and the process continues." He said, "I do not see a long-term future at Celta, there are doubts, storm clouds and few possibilities of keeping the current structure. The city will have to decide what we do with Celta" (MARCA, 10/18). SPORT reported Mouriño "addressed the doubts among fans over the possible sale of the club." He "revealed the latest plan to continue to lead the club: the Vigo City Council selling Balaídos stadium to the club." Mouriño: "This is our proposal and now the politicians have to answer. The entire stadium would pass into the hands of Celta and that way the club could commercially exploit it how it wants. ... We don't want anything more than the stadium, not any adjacent buildings "(SPORT, 10/18). The EFE reported Vigo Mayor Abel Caballero assured that the local government "is absolutely not considering" the privatization of the stadium. Caballero pointed out that Balaídos "is a great historic asset" and "forms part of the soul of the city, and always will" (EFE, 10/18).
