At a general assembly meeting on Oct. 15, JEAN-PIERRE SIUTAT was reelected president of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB). Siutat was elected with 98.5% of the votes and will serve for four more years from ’16-20 (FFBB). ... Paris St. Germain Chair & CEO NASSER AL-KHELAIFI has been appointed by the exec board of the European Club Association to take a seat at the UEFA Professional Football Strategy Council. The decision was made during the ECA's exec board meeting held in Zurich, Switzerland. He will consequently become a member of the ECA exec board. Al-Khelaifi will replace AC Milan's former Dir UMBERTO GANDINI on the PFSC (PSG). ... FRITS BRINK from the Netherlands was elected as the new president of the FAI. Brink, 70, succeeds JOHN GRUBBSTRÖM, who stepped down from the presidency after serving the maximum number of three terms at the top of the federation. Brink has held several high level positions in various sports organizations, including president of the Royal Netherlands Aeronautical Association, VP of the Netherlands Olympic Committee and FAI exec board member (FAI). ... Racing New South Wales Chair JOHN MESSARA has "quit as the state's top thoroughbred racing official just 10 months into a three-year term." Messara tendered his resignation at a board meeting in Sydney on Monday "in another shock to the country's racing administration, which is already reeling" from Racing Victoria Chair DAVID MOODIE temporarily standing aside "on the eve of the Caulfield Cup as he is probed for an integrity breach." Messara, who was "instrumental in the establishment of The Championships, told his fellow board members of his intention to retire from the Racing NSW board at the end of December." He had been chair for five years (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 10/17). ... The Polish Association of Rugby has chosen 48-year-old former member of parliament DARIUSZ OLSZEWSKI as its new president. Olszewski was the only candidate for the position. He "was backed by 38 of the 40 delegates at an extraordinary general meeting of the association in Warsaw on Sunday; two delegates abstained." Olszewski, who graduated in marketing and management, "was a deputy for the Law and Justice party and is now a member of the Solidarna Polska grouping." The previous president of the Polish Association of Rugby, Frenchman SERGE BOSCA, "was dismissed in mid-September" (RADIO POLAND, 10/17).
