German FA, German Football League Agree To New Principal Contract

The German Football Federation (DFB) and German Football League (DFL) "have signed a new principal contract that regulates the tasks, rights and financial responsibilities of both organizations," according to Nils Lehnebach of SPONSORs. The new contract "will run until June 30, 2023." However, it is still subject to approval by both exec boards. The biggest change "will be a bigger financial support of amateur football in the country." The DFB will pay an additional €5M ($5.5M) annually to the state federations. It also will invest €3M ($3.3M) per year in upgrading the football infrastructure in Germany. The DFL will, in addition to its current annual contributions, allocate €2.5M ($2.75M) a year for specific projects in amateur football (SPONSORs, 10/14).
