Female Sports Reporters Pay Tribute To Late Daily Telegraph Journalis Rebecca Wilson

A new generation of female sports reporters and rising stars have paid tribute to REBECCA WILSON’s legacy, "crediting the late Daily Telegraph journalist with smashing down the locker room door in a bygone era of bawdy banter and sexist behaviour," according to Fox Koob & Davidson of THE AUSTRALIAN. National Rugby League reporters MEL MCLAUGHLIN, ERIN MOLAN, LARA PITT and MEGAN BARNARD said that it is "all too easy to take the role of women in the contemporary sports journalism landscape for granted." McLaughlin: "It’s undeniable that she made a difference. I didn’t see her as a 'woman in a man’s world;' in fact, I didn’t think of her gender at all. Irrelevant ... I know she was well loved and clearly had a softer, funnier side than what most people saw." Molan, the first female co-host on Australia’s most watched rugby league program on the Nine Network, said, "She paved the way for strong women in sports media and stood her ground on issues she believed in until the end" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 10/10).
