Spanish third-tier club Recreativo de Huelva named MANOLO ZAMBRANO its president. Zambrano played for and coached the club. He was chosen "by club shareholders," who voted out PABLO COMAS (EFE, 10/6). ... EDUARDO PORTELA will on Thursday conclude his tenure as the leader of the Union of European Basketball Leagues (ULEB), which he has directed for the last 18 years. He was also president of the Spanish Basketball League (ACB) from '90-13 and remains the ACB's honorary president (EFE, 10/5). ... Int'l sports media group Eleven Sports Network announced the appointment of SHALU WASU as managing director for Singapore. Wasu, who begins his role immediately and will report directly to Group Managing Dir DANNY MENKEN, will replace outgoing Asia Managing Dir JOYEE BISWAS. Eleven Taiwan GM SIMONE KANG will now report directly to Menken. Wasu recently stepped down as managing director at social data analytics company Circus Social, which he co-founded in '12 (Eleven). ... Int'l Volleyball Federation President ARY GRAÇA has "been given eight more years in office." Graça won an "unopposed election of FIVB member federations late Wednesday" at its annual congress (AP, 10/6). ... Somerset County Cricket Club Dir MATT MAYNARD "signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the county" until the end of the '19 season. The 50-year-old has been at the helm since '14 and "led the county to a second-placed finish in Division One for a third time" since '10 (BBC, 10/6).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Spanish coach JULIO VELÁZQUEZ reached an agreement with Portuguese side Belenenses to leave the club. He had coached Belenenses since the end of '15 (EFE, 10/6).
