Atlético Madrid Announces Philips Lighting Will Provide LED System At New Stadium

Philips Lighting was named the new supplier of Atlético Madrid for the next four seasons. As part of the agreement, Atlético's new stadium will be the first in the world to have entirely LED technology. The stadium will feature the Philips Arena Experience, a new LED lighting system that will accompany fans before, during and after matches. The project will cover all of the illumination from the pitch to the façade and roofing, as well as all the hospitality areas (Atlético Madrid). In Madrid, Ainhoa Sánchez reported club President Enrique Cerezo admitted he "does not yet know what Estadio La Peineta -- the name of the stadium which is currently being redeveloped to house the club -- will be called when it is unveiled" (MARCA, 10/5).
