AFL Sydney Swans Defend Decision To Cancel Fan Days After Losing Grand Final

Australian Football League side Sydney Swans "have defended their decision to cancel fan days, saying the events were only going to proceed if the club won the grand final," according to Neil Cordy of the Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH. Swans fans "flocked to social media to slam the decision to axe the supporter events in Melbourne and Sydney, declaring it bad sportsmanship." One fan posted on Facebook, "To cancel the events and go home because you didn’t win, is that the message you want to give to your fans? Because, if so, I will help my daughters choose a team with better morals than this. Shameful, pull your socks up and stop being such sore losers." But Football Manager Tom Harley said this year that the Swans "had made their plans known from the outset." He said, "It was always the plan to not have the fan day if we lost. ... It’s a celebration if you win and not so much if you lose, that was the reason behind that" (DAILY TELEGRAPH, 10/2).
