Event Notes: Cape Town's Killarney Circuit To Host FIA World Rallycross In 2017

Killarney race circuit in Cape Town will be hosting the 2017 FIA World Rallycross Championships, "the first time this event will be hosted in Africa." The South African round of World RX will form the final event of next year’s calendar of the Rallycross. Killarney Int'l Raceway Exec Manager Des Eason said that the construction of a brand new rallycross track will begin in November and "will become a permanent circuit" which will host a new series of rallycrossing" (CAPE TALK, 9/26).

Tickets have gone on sale for the Dubai World Superseries Finals taking place from Dec. 14-18. Only the top eight ranked players in the world qualify for the season-ending event at the Hamdan Sports Complex. Tickets are priced from Dh25 ($6.81) per day while a pass for all five days starts at Dh100 ($27.23) (THE NATIONAL, 9/27).

Sports digital and broadcast firm deltatre and Sportel have teamed up to launch the third edition of the Sportel StartUp Competition. The int'l pitch contest is looking for entrepreneurs and start-ups, and aims to promote those businesses that can make a significant breakthrough in the digital sports industry. The competition is only open to start-ups that are focused on professional sport solutions or fan engagement that have marketed products and have an active portfolio of users (deltatre).
